Histopathological Effects of Different Levels of Palm Kernel Cake Fed to Dorper Lambs

Palm kernel cake (PKC) is a nutrient-rich by-product of oil mills that contained high concentration copper (Cu) among other minerals elements. The higher dietary Cu was reported to impair some physiological functions in breeds sheep due toxicity. Hence, this study aimed investigate the histopathological effects PKC based diet on vital organs Dorper lambs. Fifteen male lambs (8 month-old) were randomly assigned three treatment groups. Lambs fed with supplemented different levels dry matter (DM) (PKC 750 gm kg-1 DM, 700 and 650 DM) for 120 days. At end experiment, all slaughtered, liver, kidney, testis samples examined gross pathological lesions. Microscopic examination showed liver PKC75 group animals histologically normal. However, cell hepatocyte abnormality observed PKC70 PKC65 No clinical symptoms or severe histological lesions noticed kidney Therefore, histomorphological normal indicated contents provided detoxification immune defense
